The Hyde Park Umbrella Man

by Lenka Reznicek [permalink]

Like clockwork, each morning
the Umbrella Man walks
along the newly constructed 57th Street access path
past the Museum of Science and Industry
wearing
a decidedly unseasonable fur hat
a beige raincoat
an untrimmed beard
and oversized Harry Caray spectacles
his distinctive feature is the huge
vertically-hoisted
furled
leopard skin print parasol
he carries with the solemn mien of a Roman Legionnaire.
